Wanda Lloyd is chair/associate professor, Department of Mass Comunications at Savannah State University. She grew up in Savannah and now she has come full circle by returning "home" to Savannah to lead the program where she was a student delegate at the Southern Regional Press Institute as a junior high and high school  student, and later returned from Atlanta as a college student.

Lloyd served 8.5 years as the executive editor of the Montgomery (Ala.) Advertiser, a Gannett newspaper. As executive editor she was responsible for all of the news content for the daily newspaper and several weekly newspapers, including the Maxwell-Gunter Dispatch, montgomeryadvertiser.com, the editorial page and the newsroom’s staff and resources.
