Gracie Lawson-Borders was named Dean of Howard University's School of Communications, the appointment is effective July 1, 2013. Lawson-Borders was a graduate of the Editing Program for Minority Journalists, class of 1987. She went on to serve as a faculty member for the program in 1988. In 1995, she graduated from the Management Training Center.
